Allah Sends His Teachings To Us Through His Messengers

28:50

فَإِن لَّمۡ يَسۡتَجِيبُواْ لَكَ فَٱعۡلَمۡ أَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ‌ۚ وَمَنۡ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هَوَٮٰهُ بِغَيۡرِ هُدً۬ى مِّنَ ٱللهِ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَہۡدِى ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ٥٠

If they fail to respond to you, then know that they follow only their own opinions. Who is farther astray than those who follow their own opinions, without guidance from ALLAH? ALLAH does not guide such wicked people.

    It is clear from the verses above that one cannot argue directly with the book called Quran, as it is inanimate in the sense that it does not have a voice, but one can argue with the human messenger reciting the Quran. Note that in verse 22:8, the verse mentions some people who argue about Allah, and in verse 28:50, it says that “if they fail to respond to you” – in both instances it implies the human messenger, with whom the disbelievers can argue or fail to respond to his call to believe.
