The Rupture

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتۡ ١

The time will come when the sky is ruptured.

وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّہَا وَحُقَّتۡ ٢

It will submit to its Lord and expire.

وَإِذَا ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡ ٣

The Earth will be levelled.

وَأَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِيہَا وَتَخَلَّتۡ ٤

It will eject its contents, as it erupts.

وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّہَا وَحُقَّتۡ ٥

It will submit to its Lord and expire.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدۡحً۬ا فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ ٦

O humans, you are irreversibly heading for a meeting with your Lord.

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُ ۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ٧

As for the one who receives his record in his right hand,

فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابً۬ا يَسِيرً۬ا ٨

His reckoning will be easy.

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورً۬ا ٩

He will return to his people joyfully.

وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُ ۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهۡرِهِۦ ١٠

As for the one who receives his record behind his back,

فَسَوۡفَ يَدۡعُواْ ثُبُورً۬ا ١١

He will be ridden with remorse.

وَيَصۡلَىٰ سَعِيرًا ١٢

And will burn in Hell.

إِنَّهُ ۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورًا ١٣

He used to act arrogantly among his people.

إِنَّهُ ۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ ١٤

He thought that he will never be called to account.

بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ ۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرً۬ا ١٥

Yes indeed, his Lord was Seer of him.

فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ ١٦

I solemnly swear by the rosy dusk.

وَٱلَّيۡلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ ١٧

And the night as it spreads.

وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ ١٨

And the moon and its phases.

لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ۬ ١٩

You will move from stage to stage.

فَمَا لَهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ ٢٠

Why do they not believe?

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيۡہِمُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لَا يَسۡجُدُونَ ٢١

And when the Quran is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate.

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ ٢٢

This is because those who disbelieved are rejecting (the Quran).

وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ ٢٣

ALLAH is fully aware of their innermost thoughts.

فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ٢٤

Promise them painful retribution.

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونِۭ ٢٥

As for those who believed and led a righteous life, they receive a recompense that is well-deserved.
