The Forenoon

وَٱلضُّحَىٰ ١

By the forenoon.

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ ٢

By the night as it falls.

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ ٣

Your Lord never abandoned you, nor did He forget.

وَلَلۡأَخِرَةُ خَيۡرٌ۬ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ ٤

The Hereafter is far better for you than this first (life).

وَلَسَوۡفَ يُعۡطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ ٥

And your Lord will give you enough; you will be pleased.

أَلَمۡ يَجِدۡكَ يَتِيمً۬ا فَـَٔاوَىٰ ٦

Did He not find you orphaned and He gave you a home?

وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلاًّ۬ فَهَدَىٰ ٧

He found you astray, and guided you.

وَوَجَدَكَ عَآٮِٕلاً۬ فَأَغۡنَىٰ ٨

He found you poor, and made you rich.

فَأَمَّا ٱلۡيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقۡهَرۡ ٩

Therefore, you shall not forsake the orphan.

وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآٮِٕلَ فَلَا تَنۡہَرۡ ١٠

Nor shall you reprimand the beggar.

وَأَمَّا بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثۡ ١١

You shall proclaim the blessing your Lord has bestowed upon you.
