The Resurrection

لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ ١

I swear by the Day of Resurrection.

وَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ٢

And I swear by the blaming soul.

أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُ ۥ ٣

Does the human being think that we will not reconstruct his bones?

بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُ ۥ ٤

Yes indeed; we are able to reconstruct his finger tip.

بَلۡ يُرِيدُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُ ۥ ٥

But the human being tends to believe only what he sees in front of him.

يَسۡـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ ٦

He doubts the Day of Resurrection!

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ ٧

Once the vision is sharpened.

وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ٨

And the moon is eclipsed.

وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ ٩

And the sun and the moon crash into one another.

يَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ أَيۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ ١٠

The human being will say on that day, "Where is the escape?"

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ١١

Absolutely, there is no escape.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ١٢

To your Lord, on that day, is the final destiny.

يُنَبَّؤُاْ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ يَوۡمَٮِٕذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ١٣

The human being will be informed, on that day, of everything he did to advance himself, and everything he did to regress himself.

بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ۬ ١٤

The human being will be his own judge.

وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُ ۥ ١٥

No excuses will be accepted.

لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦۤ ١٦

Do not move your tongue to hasten it.

إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا جَمۡعَهُ ۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُ ۥ ١٧

It is we who will collect it into Quran.

فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُ ۥ ١٨

Once we recite it, you shall follow such a Quran.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا بَيَانَهُ ۥ ١٩

Then it is we who will explain it.

كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ ٢٠

Indeed, you love this fleeting life.

وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلۡأَخِرَةَ ٢١

While disregarding the Hereafter.

وُجُوهٌ۬ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ۬ نَّاضِرَةٌ ٢٢

Some faces, on that day, will be happy.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّہَا نَاظِرَةٌ۬ ٢٣

Looking at their Lord.

وَوُجُوهٌ۬ يَوۡمَٮِٕذِۭ بَاسِرَةٌ۬ ٢٤

Other faces will be, on that day, miserable.

تَظُنُّ أَن يُفۡعَلَ بِہَا فَاقِرَةٌ۬ ٢٥

Expecting the worst.

كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ ٢٦

Indeed, when (the soul) reaches the throat.

وَقِيلَ مَنۡۜ رَاقٍ۬ ٢٧

And it is ordered: "Let go!"

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡفِرَاقُ ٢٨

He knows it is the end.

وَٱلۡتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ٢٩

Each leg will lay motionless next to the other leg.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ ٱلۡمَسَاقُ ٣٠

To your Lord, on that day, is the summoning.

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ٣١

For he observed neither the charity, nor the Salat (Contact Prayer).

وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ٣٢

But he disbelieved and turned away.

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ ٣٣

With his family, he acted arrogantly.

أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰ ٣٤

You have deserved this.

ثُمَّ أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰٓ ٣٥

Indeed, you have deserved this.

أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتۡرَكَ سُدًى ٣٦

Does the human being think that he will go to nothing?

أَلَمۡ يَكُ نُطۡفَةً۬ مِّن مَّنِىٍّ۬ يُمۡنَىٰ ٣٧

Was he not a drop of ejected semen?

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً۬ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ٣٨

Then he became a hanging (embryo), He (Allah) then Created and Designed it.

فَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ ٣٩

He made it into male or female!

أَلَيۡسَ ذَٲلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحۡـِۧىَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ ٤٠

Is He then unable to revive the dead?
