The Embryo

ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ١

Read, in the name of your Lord, who created.

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ ٢

He created man from an embryo.

ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُ ٣

Read, and your Lord, Most Exalted.

ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِ ٤

Teaches by means of the pen.

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ ٥

He teaches man what he never knew.

كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطۡغَىٰٓ ٦

Indeed, the human transgresses.

أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓ ٧

When he becomes rich.

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجۡعَىٰٓ ٨

To your Lord is the ultimate destiny.

أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنۡهَىٰ ٩

Have you seen the one who enjoins.

عَبۡدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ ١٠

Others from praying?

أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ ١١

Is it not better for him to follow the guidance?

أَوۡ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقۡوَىٰٓ ١٢

Or advocate righteousness?

أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ١٣

If he disbelieves and turns away.

أَلَمۡ يَعۡلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ ١٤

Does he not realize that ALLAH sees?

كَلَّا لَٮِٕن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ ١٥

Indeed, unless he refrains, we will take him by the forelock.

نَاصِيَةٍ۬ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ۬ ١٦

A forelock that is disbelieving and sinful.

فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُ ۥ ١٧

Let him then call on his helpers.

سَنَدۡعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ ١٨

We will call the guardians of Hell.

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَٱسۡجُدۡ وَٱقۡتَرِب ١٩

You shall not obey him; you shall fall prostrate and draw nearer.
