The Parties

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ ٱتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ڪَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمً۬ا ١

O you prophet, you shall reverence ALLAH and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. ALLAH is Omniscient, Most Wise.

وَٱتَّبِعۡ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ مِن رَبِّكَ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرً۬ا ٢

Follow what is revealed to you from your Lord. ALLAH is fully Cognizant of everything you all do.

وَتَوَڪَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللهِ‌ۚ وَڪَفَىٰ بِٱللهِ وَكِيلاً۬ ٣

And put your trust in ALLAH. ALLAH suffices as an advocate.

مَّا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ۬ مِّن قَلۡبَيۡنِ فِى جَوۡفِهِۦ‌ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَزۡوَٲجَكُمُ ٱلَّـٰٓـِٔى تُظَـٰهِرُونَ مِنۡہُنَّ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمۡ‌ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدۡعِيَآءَكُمۡ أَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ‌ۚ ذَٲلِكُمۡ قَوۡلُكُم بِأَفۡوَٲهِكُمۡ‌ۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَقُولُ ٱلۡحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَهۡدِى ٱلسَّبِيلَ ٤

ALLAH did not give any man two hearts in his chest. Nor did He turn your wives whom you estrange (according to your custom) into your mothers. Nor did He turn your adopted children into genetic offspring. All these are mere utterances that you have invented. ALLAH speaks the truth, and He guides in the (right) path.

ٱدۡعُوهُمۡ لِأَبَآٮِٕهِمۡ هُوَ أَقۡسَطُ عِندَ ٱللهِ‌ۚ فَإِن لَّمۡ تَعۡلَمُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ فَإِخۡوَٲنُڪُمۡ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَمَوَٲلِيكُمۡ‌ۚ وَلَيۡسَ عَلَيۡڪُمۡ جُنَاحٌ۬ فِيمَآ أَخۡطَأۡتُم بِهِۦ وَلَـٰكِن مَّا تَعَمَّدَتۡ قُلُوبُكُمۡ‌ۚ وَڪَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورً۬ا رَّحِيمًا ٥

You shall give your adopted children names that preserve their relationship to their genetic parents. This is more equitable in the sight of ALLAH. If you do not know their parents, then, as your brethren in religion, you shall treat them as members of your family. You do not commit a sin if you make a mistake in this respect; you are responsible for your purposeful intentions. ALLAH is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَوۡلَىٰ بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ مِنۡ أَنفُسِہِمۡ‌ۖ وَأَزۡوَٲجُهُ ۥۤ أُمَّهَـٰتُہُمۡ‌ۗ وَأُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَرۡحَامِ بَعۡضُہُمۡ أَوۡلَىٰ بِبَعۡضٍ۬ فِى ڪِتَـٰبِ ٱللهِ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُهَـٰجِرِينَ إِلَّآ أَن تَفۡعَلُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَوۡلِيَآٮِٕكُم مَّعۡرُوفً۬ا‌ۚ ڪَانَ ذَٲلِكَ فِى ٱلۡڪِتَـٰبِ مَسۡطُورً۬ا ٦

The prophet is closer to the believers than they are to each other, and his wives are like mothers to them. The relatives ought to take care of one another in accordance with ALLAH’s scripture. Thus, the believers shall take care of their relatives who immigrate to them, provided they have taken care of their own families first. These are commandments of this scripture.

وَإِذۡ أَخَذۡنَا مِنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِيثَـٰقَهُمۡ وَمِنكَ وَمِن نُّوحٍ۬ وَإِبۡرَٲهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَى ٱبۡنِ مَرۡيَمَ‌ۖ وَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُم مِّيثَـٰقًا غَلِيظً۬ا ٧

Recall that we took from the prophets their covenant, including you (O Muhammad), Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary. We took from them a solemn pledge.

لِّيَسۡـَٔلَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ عَن صِدۡقِهِمۡ‌ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمً۬ا ٨

Subsequently, He will surely question the truthful about their truthfulness, and has prepared for the disbelievers (in this Quranic fact) a painful retribution.

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَةَ ٱللهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ إِذۡ جَآءَتۡكُمۡ جُنُودٌ۬ فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡہِمۡ رِيحً۬ا وَجُنُودً۬ا لَّمۡ تَرَوۡهَا‌ۚ وَڪَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا ٩

O you who believe, remember ALLAH’s blessing upon you; when soldiers attacked you, we sent upon them violent wind and invisible soldiers. ALLAH is Seer of everything you do.

إِذۡ جَآءُوكُم مِّن فَوۡقِكُمۡ وَمِنۡ أَسۡفَلَ مِنكُمۡ وَإِذۡ زَاغَتِ ٱلۡأَبۡصَـٰرُ وَبَلَغَتِ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ ٱلۡحَنَاجِرَ وَتَظُنُّونَ بِٱللهِ ٱلظُّنُونَا۟ ١٠

When they came from above you, and from beneath you, your eyes were terrified, your hearts ran out of patience, and you harbored unbefitting thoughts about ALLAH.

هُنَالِكَ ٱبۡتُلِىَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ وَزُلۡزِلُواْ زِلۡزَالاً۬ شَدِيدً۬ا ١١

That is when the believers were truly tested; they were severely shaken up.

وَإِذۡ يَقُولُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِہِم مَّرَضٌ۬ مَّا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥۤ إِلَّا غُرُورً۬ا ١٢

The hypocrites and those with doubts in their hearts said, "What ALLAH and His messenger promised us was no more than an illusion!"

وَإِذۡ قَالَت طَّآٮِٕفَةٌ۬ مِّنۡہُمۡ يَـٰٓأَهۡلَ يَثۡرِبَ لَا مُقَامَ لَكُمۡ فَٱرۡجِعُواْ‌ۚ وَيَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُ فَرِيقٌ۬ مِّنۡہُمُ ٱلنَّبِىَّ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوۡرَةٌ۬ وَمَا هِىَ بِعَوۡرَةٍ‌ۖ إِن يُرِيدُونَ إِلَّا فِرَارً۬ا ١٣

A group of them said, "O people of Yathrib, you cannot attain victory; go back." Others made up excuses to the prophet saying: "Our homes are vulnerable," when they were not vulnerable. They just wanted to flee.

وَلَوۡ دُخِلَتۡ عَلَيۡہِم مِّنۡ أَقۡطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُٮِٕلُواْ ٱلۡفِتۡنَةَ لَأَتَوۡهَا وَمَا تَلَبَّثُواْ بِہَآ إِلَّا يَسِيرً۬ا ١٤

Had their homes been invaded, and the enemy asked to join them, they would have joined (the enemy) without hesitation.

وَلَقَدۡ كَانُواْ عَـٰهَدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبۡلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ ٱلۡأَدۡبَـٰرَ‌ۚ وَكَانَ عَهۡدُ ٱللهِ مَسۡـُٔولاً۬ ١٥

They had pledged to ALLAH in the past that they would not turn around and flee; making a pledge with ALLAH involves a great responsibility.

قُل لَّن يَنفَعَكُمُ ٱلۡفِرَارُ إِن فَرَرۡتُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ أَوِ ٱلۡقَتۡلِ وَإِذً۬ا لَّا تُمَتَّعُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً۬ ١٦

Say, "If you flee, you can never flee from death or from being killed. No matter what happens, you only live a short while longer."

قُلۡ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَعۡصِمُكُم مِّنَ ٱللهِ إِنۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ سُوٓءًا أَوۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ رَحۡمَةً۬‌ۚ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللهِ وَلِيًّ۬ا وَلَا نَصِيرً۬ا ١٧

Say, "Who would protect you from ALLAH if He willed any adversity, or willed any blessing for you?" They can never find, beside ALLAH, any other Lord and Supporter.

قَدۡ يَعۡلَمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُعَوِّقِينَ مِنكُمۡ وَٱلۡقَآٮِٕلِينَ لِإِخۡوَٲنِهِمۡ هَلُمَّ إِلَيۡنَا‌ۖ وَلَا يَأۡتُونَ ٱلۡبَأۡسَ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً ١٨

ALLAH is fully aware of the hinderers among you, and those who say to their comrades, "Let us all stay behind." Rarely do they mobilize for defense.

أَشِحَّةً عَلَيۡكُمۡ‌ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ ٱلۡخَوۡفُ رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيۡكَ تَدُورُ أَعۡيُنُهُمۡ كَٱلَّذِى يُغۡشَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ‌ۖ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ ٱلۡخَوۡفُ سَلَقُوڪُم بِأَلۡسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ أَشِحَّةً عَلَى ٱلۡخَيۡرِ‌ۚ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ لَمۡ يُؤۡمِنُواْ فَأَحۡبَطَ ٱللَّهُ أَعۡمَـٰلَهُمۡ‌ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٲلِكَ عَلَى ٱللهِ يَسِيرً۬ا ١٩

Also, they are too stingy when dealing with you. If anything threatens the community, you see their eyes rolling with fear, as if death had already come to them. Once the crisis is over, they whip you with sharp tongues. They are too stingy with their wealth. These are not believers, and, consequently, ALLAH has nullified their works. This is easy for ALLAH to do.

يَحۡسَبُونَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابَ لَمۡ يَذۡهَبُواْ‌ۖ وَإِن يَأۡتِ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابُ يَوَدُّواْ لَوۡ أَنَّهُم بَادُونَ فِى ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِ يَسۡـَٔلُونَ عَنۡ أَنۢبَآٮِٕكُمۡ‌ۖ وَلَوۡ ڪَانُواْ فِيكُم مَّا قَـٰتَلُوٓاْ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً۬ ٢٠

They thought that the parties might come back. In that case, they would wish that they were lost in the desert, asking about your news from afar. Had the parties attacked you while they were with you, they would rarely support you.

لَّقَدۡ كَانَ لَكُمۡ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللهِ أُسۡوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ۬ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرۡجُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلۡأَخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرً۬ا ٢١

The messenger of ALLAH has set up a good example for those among you who seek ALLAH and the Last Day, and constantly think about ALLAH.

وَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ٱلۡأَحۡزَابَ قَالُواْ هَـٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥ وَصَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥ‌ۚ وَمَا زَادَهُمۡ إِلَّآ إِيمَـٰنً۬ا وَتَسۡلِيمً۬ا ٢٢

When the true believers saw the parties (ready to attack), they said, "This is what ALLAH and His messenger have promised us, and ALLAH and His messenger are truthful." This (dangerous situation) only strengthened their faith and augmented their submission.

مِّنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ۬ صَدَقُواْ مَا عَـٰهَدُواْ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيۡهِ‌ۖ فَمِنۡهُم مَّن قَضَىٰ نَحۡبَهُ ۥ وَمِنۡہُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ‌ۖ وَمَا بَدَّلُواْ تَبۡدِيلاً۬ ٢٣

Among the believers there are people who fulfil their pledges with ALLAH. Some of them died, while others stand ready, never wavering.

لِّيَجۡزِىَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ بِصِدۡقِهِمۡ وَيُعَذِّبَ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ إِن شَآءَ أَوۡ يَتُوبَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورً۬ا رَّحِيمً۬ا ٢٤

ALLAH will surely recompense the truthful for their truthfulness, and will punish the hypocrites, if He so wills, or redeem them. ALLAH is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

وَرَدَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِغَيۡظِهِمۡ لَمۡ يَنَالُواْ خَيۡرً۬ا‌ۚ وَكَفَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٱلۡقِتَالَ‌ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزً۬ا ٢٥

ALLAH repulsed those who disbelieved with their rage, and they left empty-handed. ALLAH thus spared the believers any fighting. ALLAH is Powerful, Almighty.

وَأَنزَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَـٰهَرُوهُم مِّنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مِن صَيَاصِيهِمۡ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعۡبَ فَرِيقً۬ا تَقۡتُلُونَ وَتَأۡسِرُونَ فَرِيقً۬ا ٢٦

He also brought down their allies among the people of the scripture from their secure positions, and threw terror into their hearts. Some of them you killed, and some you took captive.

وَأَوۡرَثَكُمۡ أَرۡضَہُمۡ وَدِيَـٰرَهُمۡ وَأَمۡوَٲلَهُمۡ وَأَرۡضً۬ا لَّمۡ تَطَـُٔوهَا‌ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ ڪُلِّ شَىۡءٍ۬ قَدِيرً۬ا ٢٧

He made you inherit their land, their homes, their money, and lands you had never stepped on. ALLAH is in full control of all things.

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ قُل لِّأَزۡوَٲجِكَ إِن كُنتُنَّ تُرِدۡنَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَزِينَتَهَا فَتَعَالَيۡنَ أُمَتِّعۡكُنَّ وَأُسَرِّحۡكُنَّ سَرَاحً۬ا جَمِيلاً۬ ٢٨

O prophet, say to your wives, "If you are seeking this life and its vanities, then let me compensate you and allow you to go amicably.

وَإِن كُنتُنَّ تُرِدۡنَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۥ وَٱلدَّارَ ٱلۡأَخِرَةَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَعَدَّ لِلۡمُحۡسِنَـٰتِ مِنكُنَّ أَجۡرًا عَظِيمً۬ا ٢٩

"But if you are seeking ALLAH and His messenger, and the abode of the Hereafter, then ALLAH has prepared for the righteous among you a great recompense."

يَـٰنِسَآءَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ مَن يَأۡتِ مِنكُنَّ بِفَـٰحِشَةٍ۬ مُّبَيِّنَةٍ۬ يُضَـٰعَفۡ لَهَا ٱلۡعَذَابُ ضِعۡفَيۡنِ‌ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٲلِكَ عَلَى ٱللهِ يَسِيرً۬ا ٣٠

O wives of the prophet, if any of you commits a gross sin, the retribution will be doubled for her. This is easy for ALLAH to do.

وَمَن يَقۡنُتۡ مِنكُنَّ لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتَعۡمَلۡ صَـٰلِحً۬ا نُّؤۡتِهَآ أَجۡرَهَا مَرَّتَيۡنِ وَأَعۡتَدۡنَا لَهَا رِزۡقً۬ا ڪَرِيمً۬ا ٣١

Any one of you who obeys ALLAH and His messenger, and leads a righteous life, we will grant her double the recompense, and we have prepared for her a generous provision.

يَـٰنِسَآءَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ لَسۡتُنَّ ڪَأَحَدٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِۚ إِنِ ٱتَّقَيۡتُنَّ فَلَا تَخۡضَعۡنَ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ فَيَطۡمَعَ ٱلَّذِى فِى قَلۡبِهِۦ مَرَضٌ۬ وَقُلۡنَ قَوۡلاً۬ مَّعۡرُوفً۬ا ٣٢

O wives of the prophet, you are not the same as any other women, if you observe righteousness. (You have a greater responsibility.) Therefore, you shall not speak too softly, lest those with disease in their hearts may get the wrong ideas; you shall speak only righteousness.

وَقَرۡنَ فِى بُيُوتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجۡنَ تَبَرُّجَ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰۖ وَأَقِمۡنَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتِينَ ٱلزَّڪَوٰةَ وَأَطِعۡنَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۚ ۥۤ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُذۡهِبَ عَنڪُمُ ٱلرِّجۡسَ أَهۡلَ ٱلۡبَيۡتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمۡ تَطۡهِيرً۬ا ٣٣

You shall settle down in your homes, and do not mingle with the people excessively, like you used to do in the old days of ignorance. You shall observe the Salat (Contact Prayer), and give the Zakat (Obligatory Charity), and obey ALLAH and His messenger. ALLAH wishes to remove all unholiness from you, O you who live around the Sacred Shrine, and to purify you completely.

وَٱذۡڪُرۡنَ مَا يُتۡلَىٰ فِى بُيُوتِڪُنَّ مِنۡ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللهِ وَٱلۡحِڪۡمَةِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ لَطِيفًا خَبِيرًا ٣٤

Remember what is being recited in your homes of ALLAH’s revelations and the wisdom inherent therein. ALLAH is Sublime, Cognizant.

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ وَٱلۡمُسۡلِمَـٰتِ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ وَٱلۡقَـٰنِتِينَ وَٱلۡقَـٰنِتَـٰتِ وَٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ وَٱلصَّـٰدِقَـٰتِ وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّـٰبِرَٲتِ وَٱلۡخَـٰشِعِينَ وَٱلۡخَـٰشِعَـٰتِ وَٱلۡمُتَصَدِّقِينَ وَٱلۡمُتَصَدِّقَـٰتِ وَٱلصَّـٰٓٮِٕمِينَ وَٱلصَّـٰٓٮِٕمَـٰتِ وَٱلۡحَـٰفِظِينَ فُرُوجَهُمۡ وَٱلۡحَـٰفِظَـٰتِ وَٱلذَّٲڪِرِينَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرً۬ا وَٱلذَّٲڪِرَٲتِ أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُم مَّغۡفِرَةً۬ وَأَجۡرًا عَظِيمً۬ا ٣٥

The submitting men, the submitting women, the believing men, the believing women, the obedient men, the obedient women, the truthful men, the truthful women, the steadfast men, the steadfast women, the reverent men, the reverent women, the charitable men, the charitable women, the fasting men, the fasting women, the chaste men, the chaste women, and the men who commemorate ALLAH frequently, and the commemorating women; ALLAH has prepared for them forgiveness and a great recompense.

وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤۡمِنٍ۬ وَلَا مُؤۡمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥۤ أَمۡرًا أَن يَكُونَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡخِيَرَةُ مِنۡ أَمۡرِهِمۡۗ وَمَن يَعۡصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۥ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلَـٰلاً۬ مُّبِينً۬ا ٣٦

No believing man or believing woman, if ALLAH and His messenger issue any command, has any choice regarding that command. Anyone who disobeys ALLAH and His messenger has gone far astray.

وَإِذۡ تَقُولُ لِلَّذِىٓ أَنۡعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِ وَأَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِ أَمۡسِكۡ عَلَيۡكَ زَوۡجَكَ وَٱتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ وَتُخۡفِى فِى نَفۡسِكَ مَا ٱللَّهُ مُبۡدِيهِ وَتَخۡشَى ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخۡشَٮٰهُۖ فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ زَيۡدٌ۬ مِّنۡہَا وَطَرً۬ا زَوَّجۡنَـٰكَهَا لِكَىۡ لَا يَكُونَ عَلَى ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ حَرَجٌ۬ فِىٓ أَزۡوَٲجِ أَدۡعِيَآٮِٕهِمۡ إِذَا قَضَوۡاْ مِنۡہُنَّ وَطَرً۬اۚ وَكَانَ أَمۡرُ ٱللهِ مَفۡعُولاً۬ ٣٧

Recall that you said to the one who was blessed by ALLAH, and blessed by you, "Keep your wife and reverence ALLAH," and you hid inside yourself what ALLAH wished to proclaim. Thus, you feared the people, when you were supposed to fear only ALLAH. When Zeid was completely through with his wife, we had you marry her, in order to establish the precedent for the believers that a man may marry the divorced wife of his adopted son. ALLAH’s commands shall be done.

مَّا كَانَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ مِنۡ حَرَجٍ۬ فِيمَا فَرَضَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُۖ ۥ سُنَّةَ ٱللهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوۡاْ مِن قَبۡلُۚ وَكَانَ أَمۡرُ ٱللهِ قَدَرً۬ا مَّقۡدُورًا ٣٨

The prophet is not committing an error by doing anything that is made lawful by ALLAH. Such is ALLAH’s system since the early generations. ALLAH’s command is a sacred duty.

ٱلَّذِينَ يُبَلِّغُونَ رِسَـٰلَـٰتِ ٱللهِ وَيَخۡشَوۡنَهُ ۥ وَلَا يَخۡشَوۡنَ أَحَدًا إِلَّا ٱللَّهَۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللهِ حَسِيبً۬ا ٣٩

Those who deliver ALLAH’s messages, and who reverence only Him, shall never fear anyone but ALLAH. ALLAH is the most efficient reckoner.

مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَآ أَحَدٍ۬ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمۡ وَلَـٰكِن رَّسُولَ ٱللهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ عَلِيمً۬ا ٤٠

Muhammad was not the father of any man among you. He was a messenger of ALLAH and the final prophet, and ALLAH is fully aware of all things.

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱذۡكُرُواْ ٱللَّهَ ذِكۡرً۬ا كَثِيرً۬ا ٤١

O you who believe, you shall remember ALLAH frequently.

وَسَبِّحُوهُ بُكۡرَةً۬ وَأَصِيلاً ٤٢

You shall glorify Him day and night.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُصَلِّى عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَمَلَـٰٓٮِٕكَتُهُ ۥ لِيُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِۚ وَڪَانَ بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ رَحِيمً۬ا ٤٣

He is the One who helps you, together with His angels, to lead you out of darkness into the light and He is Most Merciful towards the believers.

تَحِيَّتُهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَلۡقَوۡنَهُ ۥ سَلَـٰمٌ۬ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرً۬ا كَرِيمً۬ا ٤٤

Their greeting the day they meet Him is, "Peace (Salamun)," and He has prepared for them a generous recompense.

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَـٰكَ شَـٰهِدً۬ا وَمُبَشِّرً۬ا وَنَذِيرً۬ا ٤٥

O prophet, we have sent you as a witness, a bearer of good news, as well as a warner.

وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى ٱللهِ بِإِذۡنِهِۦ وَسِرَاجً۬ا مُّنِيرً۬ا ٤٦

Inviting to ALLAH, in accordance with His will, and a guiding beacon.

وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللهِ فَضۡلاً۬ كَبِيرً۬ا ٤٧

Deliver good news to the believers, that they have deserved from ALLAH a great blessing.

وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَدَعۡ أَذَٮٰهُمۡ وَتَوَڪَّلۡ عَلَى ٱللهِۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللهِ وَڪِيلاً۬ ٤٨

Do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites, disregard their insults, and put your trust in ALLAH; ALLAH suffices as an advocate.

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا نَكَحۡتُمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ طَلَّقۡتُمُوهُنَّ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن تَمَسُّوهُنَّ فَمَا لَكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِنَّ مِنۡ عِدَّةٍ۬ تَعۡتَدُّونَہَاۖ فَمَتِّعُوهُنَّ وَسَرِّحُوهُنَّ سَرَاحً۬ا جَمِيلاً۬ ٤٩

O you who believe, if you married believing women, then divorced them before having intercourse with them, they do not owe you any waiting interim (before marrying another man). You shall compensate them equitably, and let them go amicably.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَحۡلَلۡنَا لَكَ أَزۡوَٲجَكَ ٱلَّـٰتِىٓ ءَاتَيۡتَ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتۡ يَمِينُكَ مِمَّآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمَّـٰتِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَـٰلَـٰتِكَ ٱلَّـٰتِى هَاجَرۡنَ مَعَكَ وَٱمۡرَأَةً۬ مُّؤۡمِنَةً إِن وَهَبَتۡ نَفۡسَہَا لِلنَّبِىِّ إِنۡ أَرَادَ ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَن يَسۡتَنكِحَہَا خَالِصَةً۬ لَّكَ مِن دُونِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَۗ قَدۡ عَلِمۡنَا مَا فَرَضۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ فِىٓ أَزۡوَٲجِهِمۡ وَمَا مَلَڪَتۡ أَيۡمَـٰنُهُمۡ لِكَيۡلَا يَكُونَ عَلَيۡكَ حَرَجٌ۬ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورً۬ا رَّحِيمً۬ا ٥٠

O prophet, we made lawful for you your wives to whom you have paid their due dowry, or what you already have, as granted to you by ALLAH. Also lawful for you in marriage are the daughters of your father’s brothers, the daughters of your father’s sisters, the daughters of your mother’s brothers, the daughters of your mother’s sisters, who have emigrated with you. Also, if a believing woman gave herself to the prophet (by forfeiting the dowry) the prophet may marry her (without a dowry), if he so wishes. However, (her forfeiting of the dowry) applies only to the prophet, and not to the other believers. We have already decreed their rights in regard to their spouses or what they already have. This is to spare you any embarrassment. ALLAH is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

تُرۡجِى مَن تَشَآءُ مِنۡہُنَّ وَتُـٔۡوِىٓ إِلَيۡكَ مَن تَشَآءُۖ وَمَنِ ٱبۡتَغَيۡتَ مِمَّنۡ عَزَلۡتَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡكَۚ ذَٲلِكَ أَدۡنَىٰٓ أَن تَقَرَّ أَعۡيُنُہُنَّ وَلَا يَحۡزَنَّ وَيَرۡضَيۡنَ بِمَآ ءَاتَيۡتَهُنَّ ڪُلُّهُنَّۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمۡۚ وَڪَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَلِيمً۬ا ٥١

You may gently shun any one of them, and you may bring closer to you any one of them. If you reconcile with any one you had estranged, you commit no error. In this way, they will be pleased, will have no grief, and will be content with what you equitably offer to all of them. ALLAH knows what is in your hearts. ALLAH is Omniscient, Clement.

لَّا يَحِلُّ لَكَ ٱلنِّسَآءُ مِنۢ بَعۡدُ وَلَآ أَن تَبَدَّلَ بِہِنَّ مِنۡ أَزۡوَٲجٍ۬ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَكَ حُسۡنُہُنَّ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتۡ يَمِينُكَۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ۬ رَّقِيبً۬ا ٥٢

(Beyond the categories described to you), you are enjoined from marrying any other women, nor can you substitute a new wife (from the prohibited categories), no matter how much you admire their beauty. You must be content with those already made lawful to you. ALLAH is watchful over all things.

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَدۡخُلُواْ بُيُوتَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤۡذَنَ لَكُمۡ إِلَىٰ طَعَامٍ غَيۡرَ نَـٰظِرِينَ إِنَٮٰهُ وَلَـٰكِنۡ إِذَا دُعِيتُمۡ فَٱدۡخُلُواْ فَإِذَا طَعِمۡتُمۡ فَٱنتَشِرُواْ وَلَا مُسۡتَـٔۡنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍۚ إِنَّ ذَٲلِكُمۡ ڪَانَ يُؤۡذِى ٱلنَّبِىَّ فَيَسۡتَحۡىِۦ مِنڪُمۡۖ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَسۡتَحۡىِۦ مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّۚ وَإِذَا سَأَلۡتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَـٰعً۬ا فَسۡـَٔلُوهُنَّ مِن وَرَآءِ حِجَابٍ۬ۚ ذَٲلِڪُمۡ أَطۡهَرُ لِقُلُوبِكُمۡ وَقُلُوبِهِنَّۚ وَمَا كَانَ لَڪُمۡ أَن تُؤۡذُواْ رَسُولَ ٱللهِ وَلَآ أَن تَنكِحُوٓاْ أَزۡوَٲجَهُ ۥ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦۤ أَبَدًاۚ إِنَّ ذَٲلِكُمۡ ڪَانَ عِندَ ٱللهِ عَظِيمًا ٥٣

O you who believe, do not enter the prophet’s homes unless you are given permission to eat, nor shall you force such an invitation in any manner. If you are invited, you may enter. When you finish eating, you shall leave; do not engage him in lengthy conversations. This used to hurt the prophet, and he was too shy to tell you. But ALLAH does not shy away from the truth. If you have to ask them (his wives) for something, ask them from behind a barrier. This is purer for your hearts and their hearts. You are not to hurt the messenger of ALLAH. You shall not marry his wives after him, for this would be a gross offense in the sight of ALLAH.

إِن تُبۡدُواْ شَيۡـًٔا أَوۡ تُخۡفُوهُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ عَلِيمً۬ا ٥٤

Whether you declare anything, or hide it, ALLAH is fully aware of all things.

لَّا جُنَاحَ عَلَيۡہِنَّ فِىٓ ءَابَآٮِٕہِنَّ وَلَآ أَبۡنَآٮِٕهِنَّ وَلَآ إِخۡوَٲنِہِنَّ وَلَآ أَبۡنَآءِ إِخۡوَٲنِہِنَّ وَلَآ أَبۡنَآءِ أَخَوَٲتِهِنَّ وَلَا نِسَآٮِٕهِنَّ وَلَا مَا مَلَڪَتۡ أَيۡمَـٰنُہُنَّۗ وَٱتَّقِينَ ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ۬ شَهِيدًا ٥٥

The women may relax (their dress code) around their fathers, their sons, their brothers, the sons of their brothers, the sons of their sisters, the other women, and their (female) servants. They shall reverence ALLAH. ALLAH witnesses all things.

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓٮِٕڪَتَهُ ۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا ٥٦

ALLAH and His angels help and support the prophet. O you who believe, you shall help and support him, and regard him as he should be regarded.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡذُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۥ لَعَنَہُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ عَذَابً۬ا مُّهِينً۬ا ٥٧

Surely, those who oppose ALLAH and His messenger, ALLAH afflicts them with a curse in this life, and in the Hereafter; He has prepared for them a shameful retribution.

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡذُونَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ بِغَيۡرِ مَا ٱڪۡتَسَبُواْ فَقَدِ ٱحۡتَمَلُواْ بُهۡتَـٰنً۬ا وَإِثۡمً۬ا مُّبِينً۬ا ٥٨

Those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, who did not do anything wrong, have committed not only a falsehood, but also a gross sin.

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ قُل لِّأَزۡوَٲجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَآءِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ يُدۡنِينَ عَلَيۡہِنَّ مِن جَلَـٰبِيبِهِنَّۚ ذَٲلِكَ أَدۡنَىٰٓ أَن يُعۡرَفۡنَ فَلَا يُؤۡذَيۡنَۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورً۬ا رَّحِيمً۬ا ٥٩

O prophet, tell your wives, your daughters, and the wives of the believers that they shall lengthen their garments. Thus, they will be recognized (as righteous women) and avoid being insulted. ALLAH is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

لَّٮِٕن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ۬ وَٱلۡمُرۡجِفُونَ فِى ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ لَنُغۡرِيَنَّكَ بِهِمۡ ثُمَّ لَا يُجَاوِرُونَكَ فِيہَآ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً۬ ٦٠

Unless the hypocrites, and those with disease in their hearts, and the vicious liars of the city refrain (from persecuting you), we will surely grant you the upper hand, then they will be forced to leave within a short while.

مَّلۡعُونِينَۖ أَيۡنَمَا ثُقِفُوٓاْ أُخِذُواْ وَقُتِّلُواْ تَقۡتِيلاً۬ ٦١

They have incurred condemnation wherever they go; (unless they stop attacking you,) they may be taken and killed.

سُنَّةَ ٱللهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوۡاْ مِن قَبۡلُۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللهِ تَبۡدِيلاً۬ ٦٢

This is ALLAH’s (eternal) system, and you will find that ALLAH’s system is unchangeable.

يَسۡـَٔلُكَ ٱلنَّاسُ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِۖ قُلۡ إِنَّمَا عِلۡمُهَا عِندَ ٱللهِۚ وَمَا يُدۡرِيكَ لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا ٦٣

The people ask you about the Hour (end of the world). Say, "The knowledge thereof is only with ALLAH. For all that you know, the Hour may be close."

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَنَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ سَعِيرًا ٦٤

ALLAH has condemned the disbelievers, and has prepared for them blazing (Hell).

خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيہَآ أَبَدً۬اۖ لَّا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّ۬ا وَلَا نَصِيرً۬ا ٦٥

Eternally they abide therein. They will find no lord, nor a supporter.

يَوۡمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوهُهُمۡ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يَقُولُونَ يَـٰلَيۡتَنَآ أَطَعۡنَا ٱللَّهَ وَأَطَعۡنَا ٱلرَّسُولَا۟ ٦٦

The day they are thrown into Hell, they will say, "Oh, we wish we obeyed ALLAH, and obeyed the messenger."

وَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّآ أَطَعۡنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَآءَنَا فَأَضَلُّونَا ٱلسَّبِيلَا۟ ٦٧

They will also say, "Our Lord, we have obeyed our masters and leaders, but they led us astray.

رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِہِمۡ ضِعۡفَيۡنِ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ وَٱلۡعَنۡہُمۡ لَعۡنً۬ا كَبِيرً۬ا ٦٨

"Our Lord, give them double the retribution, and curse them a tremendous curse."

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَكُونُواْ كَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاذَوۡاْ مُوسَىٰ فَبَرَّأَهُ ٱللَّهُ مِمَّا قَالُواْۚ وَكَانَ عِندَ ٱللهِ وَجِيہً۬ا ٦٩

O you who believe, do not be like those who hurt Moses, then ALLAH absolved him of what they said. He was, in the sight of ALLAH, honorable.

يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَقُولُواْ قَوۡلاً۬ سَدِيدً۬ا ٧٠

O you who believe, reverence ALLAH and utter only the correct utterances.

يُصۡلِحۡ لَكُمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلَكُمۡ وَيَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ ذُنُوبَكُمۡۗ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۥ فَقَدۡ فَازَ فَوۡزًا عَظِيمًا ٧١

He will then fix your works, and forgive your sins. Those who obey ALLAH and His messenger have triumphed a great triumph.

إِنَّا عَرَضۡنَا ٱلۡأَمَانَةَ عَلَى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَٱلۡجِبَالِ فَأَبَيۡنَ أَن يَحۡمِلۡنَہَا وَأَشۡفَقۡنَ مِنۡہَا وَحَمَلَهَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُۖ إِنَّهُ ۥ كَانَ ظَلُومً۬ا جَهُولاً۬ ٧٢

We have offered the responsibility (freedom of choice) to the Heavens and the Earth, and the mountains, but they refused to bear it, and were afraid of it. But the human being accepted it; he was transgressing, ignorant.

لِّيُعَذِّبَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلۡمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِڪِينَ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكَـٰتِ وَيَتُوبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورً۬ا رَّحِيمَۢا ٧٣

For ALLAH will inevitably punish the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women, and the idol worshipping men and the idol worshipping women. ALLAH redeems the believing men and the believing women. ALLAH is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
