The Human

هَلۡ أَتَىٰ عَلَى ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنِ حِينٌ۬ مِّنَ ٱلدَّهۡرِ لَمۡ يَكُن شَيۡـًٔ۬ا مَّذۡكُورًا ١

Is it not a fact that there was a time when the human being was nothing to be mentioned?

إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ أَمۡشَاجٍ۬ نَّبۡتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ سَمِيعَۢا بَصِيرًا ٢

We created the human from a liquid mixture, from two parents, in order to test him. Thus, we made him a hearer and a seer.

إِنَّا هَدَيۡنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرً۬ا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا ٣

We showed him the two paths, then he is either appreciative, or unappreciative.

إِنَّآ أَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ سَلَـٰسِلَاْ وَأَغۡلَـٰلاً۬ وَسَعِيرًا ٤

We prepared for the disbelievers chains, shackles, and a blazing Hell.

إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ يَشۡرَبُونَ مِن كَأۡسٍ۬ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا ڪَافُورًا ٥

As for the virtuous, they will drink from cups spiced with nectar.

عَيۡنً۬ا يَشۡرَبُ بِہَا عِبَادُ ٱللهِ يُفَجِّرُونَہَا تَفۡجِيرً۬ا ٦

A spring that is reserved for ALLAH’s servants; it will gush out as they will.

يُوفُونَ بِٱلنَّذۡرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوۡمً۬ا كَانَ شَرُّهُ ۥ مُسۡتَطِيرً۬ا ٧

They fulfil their pledges, and reverence a day that is extremely difficult.

وَيُطۡعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسۡكِينً۬ا وَيَتِيمً۬ا وَأَسِيرًا ٨

They donate their favorite food to the poor, the orphan, and the captive.

إِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِوَجۡهِ ٱللهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمۡ جَزَآءً۬ وَلَا شُكُورًا ٩

"We feed you for the sake of ALLAH; we expect no reward from you, nor thanks.

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَبِّنَا يَوۡمًا عَبُوسً۬ا قَمۡطَرِيرً۬ا ١٠

"We fear from our Lord a day that is full of misery and trouble."

فَوَقَٮٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٲلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمِ وَلَقَّٮٰهُمۡ نَضۡرَةً۬ وَسُرُورً۬ا ١١

Consequently, ALLAH protects them from the evils of that day, and rewards them with joy and contentment.

وَجَزَٮٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُواْ جَنَّةً۬ وَحَرِيرً۬ا ١٢

He rewards them for their steadfastness with Paradise, and silk.

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيہَا عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآٮِٕكِ‌ۖ لَا يَرَوۡنَ فِيہَا شَمۡسً۬ا وَلَا زَمۡهَرِيرً۬ا ١٣

They relax therein on luxurious furnishings. They suffer neither the heat of the sun, nor any cold.

وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيۡہِمۡ ظِلَـٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتۡ قُطُوفُهَا تَذۡلِيلاً۬ ١٤

The shade covers them therein, and the fruits are brought within reach.

وَيُطَافُ عَلَيۡہِم بِـَٔانِيَةٍ۬ مِّن فِضَّةٍ۬ وَأَكۡوَابٍ۬ كَانَتۡ قَوَارِيرَا۟ ١٥

They are served drinks in silver containers and cups that are translucent.

قَوَارِيرَاْ مِن فِضَّةٍ۬ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقۡدِيرً۬ا ١٦

Translucent cups, though made of silver; they rightly deserved all this.

وَيُسۡقَوۡنَ فِيہَا كَأۡسً۬ا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلاً ١٧

They enjoy drinks of delicious flavors.

عَيۡنً۬ا فِيہَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلۡسَبِيلاً۬ ١٨

From a spring therein known as "Salsabeel."

وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيۡہِمۡ وِلۡدَٲنٌ۬ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيۡتَہُمۡ حَسِبۡتَہُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤً۬ا مَّنثُورً۬ا ١٩

Serving them will be immortal servants. When you see them, they will look like scattered pearls.

وَإِذَا رَأَيۡتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيۡتَ نَعِيمً۬ا وَمُلۡكً۬ا كَبِيرًا ٢٠

Wherever you look, you will see bliss, and a wonderful dominion.

عَـٰلِيَہُمۡ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضۡرٌ۬ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٌ۬‌ۖ وَحُلُّوٓاْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ۬ وَسَقَٮٰهُمۡ رَبُّہُمۡ شَرَابً۬ا طَهُورًا ٢١

On them will be clothes of green velvet, satin, and silver ornaments. Their Lord will provide them with pure drinks.

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمۡ جَزَآءً۬ وَكَانَ سَعۡيُكُم مَّشۡكُورًا ٢٢

This is the reward that awaits you, for your efforts have been appreciated.

إِنَّا نَحۡنُ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ تَنزِيلاً۬ ٢٣

We have revealed to you this Quran; a special revelation from us.

فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعۡ مِنۡہُمۡ ءَاثِمًا أَوۡ كَفُورً۬ا ٢٤

You shall steadfastly carry out your Lord’s commandments, and do not obey any sinful disbeliever among them.

وَٱذۡكُرِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ بُكۡرَةً۬ وَأَصِيلاً۬ ٢٥

And commemorate the name of your Lord day and night.

وَمِنَ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَٱسۡجُدۡ لَهُ ۥ وَسَبِّحۡهُ لَيۡلاً۬ طَوِيلاً ٢٦

During the night, fall prostrate before Him, and glorify Him many a long night.

إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمۡ يَوۡمً۬ا ثَقِيلاً۬ ٢٧

These people are preoccupied with this fleeting life, while disregarding – just ahead of them – a heavy day.

نَّحۡنُ خَلَقۡنَـٰهُمۡ وَشَدَدۡنَآ أَسۡرَهُمۡ‌ۖ وَإِذَا شِئۡنَا بَدَّلۡنَآ أَمۡثَـٰلَهُمۡ تَبۡدِيلاً ٢٨

We created them, and established them, and, whenever we will, we can substitute others in their place.

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦ تَذۡكِرَةٌ۬‌ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلاً۬ ٢٩

This is a reminder: whoever wills shall choose the path to his Lord.

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمً۬ا ٣٠

Whatever you will is in accordance with ALLAH’s will. ALLAH is Omniscient, Wise.

يُدۡخِلُ مَن يَشَآءُ فِى رَحۡمَتِهِۦ‌ۚ وَٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمۡ عَذَابًا أَلِيمَۢا ٣١

He admits whomever He wills into His mercy. As for the transgressors, He has prepared for them a painful retribution.
