ALLAH had taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and we raised among them twelve patriarchs. And ALLAH said, "I am with you, so long as you observe the Salat (Contact Prayer), give the Zakat (Obligatory Charity), and believe in My messengers and respect them, and continue to lend ALLAH a loan of righteousness. I will then remit your sins, and admit you into gardens with flowing streams. Anyone who disbelieves after this, has indeed strayed off the right path."

*** Verses 5:12 and 5:55 again enlighten the followers of Quran that the Salat and Zakat are only acceptable from those who believe in Allah and His messenger and ally with them. Such believers belong in the party of Allah and are promised forgiveness of their sins and an honorable admittance into Paradise. Those who disbelieve in Allah’s promise have strayed off the right path.

Obey ALLAH and obey the messenger

Conspiring Against the Messenger Page 29
GOD stated and commanded the Truth by saying: “Obey GOD and obey the messenger.” The “messenger” word is always used in the singular, when it refers to obeying, as it refers to a living messenger under whose command the believers are placed. When it comes to believing, it can be used in singular or plural forms, as in: 5:12 Part: “And believe in My messengers,” or as in 57:19 Part: “Those who believed in GOD and His messengers.”
