قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرۡنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ ٧٩
He said, "My Lord, respite me till the Day of Resurrection."
Proofs and revelations
38:79 Informs us that satan asked for a respite until the Day of Judgment which was granted by Allah as is mentioned in verse 38:80.
This is the start of the Divine plan of granting the humans another chance to repent to their Lord and to let satan rule over them temporarily by misguiding them and Allah was going to provide and send guidance to them through His messengers to provide the people with one more and final chance to distinguish the righteous from the disbelievers. This is why verses 38:81 and 38:82 bear Allah letters 7 and 6 in each verse, revealing the diff. of 1. These verses inform us that satan did indeed challenge that he will send all the humans astray except for a few as narrated in verse 38:83.
