David Versus Goliath
فَلَمَّا فَصَلَ طَالُوتُ بِٱلۡجُنُودِ قَالَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُبۡتَلِيڪُم بِنَهَرٍ۬ فَمَن شَرِبَ مِنۡهُ فَلَيۡسَ مِنِّى وَمَن لَّمۡ يَطۡعَمۡهُ فَإِنَّهُ ۥ مِنِّىٓ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱغۡتَرَفَ غُرۡفَةَۢ بِيَدِهِۦۚ فَشَرِبُواْ مِنۡهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلاً۬ مِّنۡهُمۡۚ فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهُ ۥ هُوَ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُ ۥ قَالُواْ لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا ٱلۡيَوۡمَ بِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِهِۦۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَظُنُّونَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَـٰقُواْ ٱللهِ ڪَم مِّن فِئَةٍ۬ قَلِيلَةٍ غَلَبَتۡ فِئَةً۬ ڪَثِيرَةَۢ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللهِۗ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ ٢٤٩
When Saul took command of the troops, he said, "ALLAH is putting you to the test by means of a stream. Anyone who drinks from it does not belong with me – only those who do not taste it belong with me – unless it is just a single sip." They drank from it, except a few of them. When he crossed it with those who believed, they said, "Now we lack the strength to face Goliath and his troops." Those who were conscious of meeting ALLAH said, "Many a small army defeated a large army by ALLAH’s leave. ALLAH is with those who steadfastly persevere."

God's Laws Are Meant To Save Us
Reflect on the law of fighting in a war and thereby acquiring captives or prisoners of war. Quran teaches us that Muhammad had to actively engage and fight in wars, though he was the leader of the believers. He was not allowed to sit at home and conduct an absentee war with his followers doing the fighting alone. Neither could he acquire captives unless he participated in the war (8:67).
