17:78 Part: “The Quran at dawn is witnessed.”

I will now combine Verse 17:78 with a portion of another verse, 73:20, that tells us the purpose of reading the Quran and how we benefit from it. It has to do with “upholding righteousness” – meaning, to carry out God’s laws.

17:78 You shall observe the Contact Prayer (Salat) when the sun declines from it highest point at noon, as it moves towards sunset. You shall also observe the Quran at dawn. The Quran at dawn is witnessed.73:20 Part: You shall read what you can of it, and observe the Salat (Contact Prayers), give the Zakat (obligatory charity), and lend GOD a loan of righteousness.

Reciting the Quran is mentioned in 17:78 to be done at Dawn. It is witnessed at Dawn. According to 3:17, the believers are meditators at Dawn. The Zakat as per 6:141 should be given on the day of harvest, the Sign is that the crops are created by God.

Muhammad was revealed that the Salat had to be observed 5 times in the day through verses 2:238, 11:114, and 17:78. He was taught the ablution through verse 5:6. The actual words to recite and the format of the Salat including the number of “rakahs” – “units” to be observed were inspired to him, as per verse 21:73.
