12:4

Recall that Joseph said to his father, "O my father, I saw eleven planets, and the sun, and the moon; I saw them prostrating before me."

Proofs and revelations

We learn from Joseph's dream that he was destined for a bright future. Thus, while his brothers met to decide his fate, his fate was already decided by Allah. Everything is done by Allah (see verse 8:17), and is already pre-recorded (see verse 57:22).

The Light of Allah – Guidance through it, or Deprivation of Light

THE LIGHT OF ALLAH: GUIDANCE THROUGH IT, OR DEPRIVATION OF LIGHT Page 1
One of the believers has sought consultation on an important matter regarding designing a logo for our charitable organization. He has quoted verse 12:4 from the Quran and would like to write the name of the organization around the 11 planets, the sun, and the moon. The answer and advice, which I am going to give, will be based on the verses and words of the Quran and their significance. I had to implore my Lord for guidance in this matter, which is detailed in this Sermon. The question I have to address is whether…

  2. THE LIGHT OF ALLAH: GUIDANCE THROUGH IT, OR DEPRIVATION OF LIGHT Page 3

Based on these Sacred Revelations from my LORD, my advice to the believer is that he should not use verse 12:4 and write “light upon light” within it as the logo for the organization. Verse 12:4 mentions 11 planets, the sun, and the moon. This constitutes only a tiny fraction of the creation of ALLAH in the Universe, whereas He is the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth, and everything in between. He is truly called: “the LORD OF THE UNIVERSE”.
